The Jackson Laboratory has an exciting opportunity as a Research Project Manager working with world-renowned scientist Dr. Nadia Rosenthal in the in Bar Harbor, Maine, located between the Gulf of Maine and the mountains of Acadia National Park.
Working within the Rosenthal Lab, the Research Project Manager works with cutting edge technology on JAX-Sen program with . The Research Project Manager will also schedule and attend all Governing Committee (GC) meetings while assisting Dr. Rosenthal with development of agenda and minutes. They will work in a collaborative team to oversee research operations of the Rosenthal Laboratory and regularly interface with key personnel and staff throughout JAX-Sen and SenNet. The Research Project Manager will also be responsible for day-to-day management of JAX mouse experiments and will serve as the point person to organize delivery of mice and data to internal and external collaborators.
Manages the daily operation of the JAX-Sen project and Rosenthal Lab - ensure mice are obtained in a timely fashion, schedules sample delivery and metadata curation
Coordinate data transfer to external collaborators
Coordinate research team and conduct research, analyzing and communicating data
Provides training and guidance and resolves personnel problems. Participates in hiring, performance evaluation, development and mentoring of staff, and disciplinary decisions
Assist in preparation of materials for grant applications, patents, internal reports, and peer reviewed research papers
Perform other duties as assigned.
BSc in a relevant field with at least 3 years of experience
Proven ability to design and evaluate scientifically controlled and relevant experiments, plus data organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly in person and in writing to subordinates, peers and higher-level managers. Possess the ability to present one's ideas and relevant information in a clear and concise manner.
Demonstrated ability to be a positive team player across diverse internal and external organizations
A deep and practical knowledge of mouse genetics and molecular biology as would normally be acquired through successful completion of JAX Genetics I and II
Advanced interpersonal skills sufficient for developing complex, dynamic relationship with a diverse variety of individuals representing a broad cross section of cultures, disciplines and levels of sophistication.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of project management and accountability.
Computer skills necessary for analyses, data acquisition, literature searches, data sharing, report presentation etc.
Ability to work with people across disciplines to gain their cooperation and commitment to projects with demanding deadlines, the ability to motivate others.
Proven abilites to formulate and write reports, including those needed for grants and peer reviewed papers.
