Job Description

Position Summary: 

The Financial Reporting Associate primarily supports the financial reporting function of the Company which is to timely and accurately file Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) filings. The position involves various technical and challenging accounting and financial reporting topics, which will include, but is not limited to: (i) the preparation and filing of the Company’s various filings with the SEC and assisting with the preparation of other regulatory financial statements; (ii) supporting the preparation and management of the Company’s income taxes including estimated tax calculations, deferred tax accounting calculations and other annual report filings; (iii) the ongoing maintenance and recordkeeping of Company equity plans and shares; and (v)  coordinating with third parties such as internal and external auditors, regulators and others.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare various financial statements and footnotes to the Form 10-K and 10-Q, including the necessary supporting detail as well as completing the necessary XBRL tagging.
  • Prepare quarterly earnings release and shareholder letter tables.
  • Prepare Forms 3, 4 and 5, 13F and 8-K filings.
  • Work directly with Company’s financial reporting software; including entering data, maintaining system, and filing documents with the SEC.
  • Prepare quarterly financial reporting support binders, final tie-outs and coordination of sign-offs across the Finance department.
  • Prepare, maintenance and process equity awards issued to Company employees and directors, including maintaining the reconciliation of common stock activity, ongoing maintenance of the Company’s share tracking software and coordination with the Company’s transfer agent.
  • Track, gather and coordinate various requests from third parties, including internal and external audit, regulators, and tax preparers, directly interacting with the Company’s audit liaison, as well as other third parties.
  • Support quarterly tax activity, including preparing quarterly estimated tax calculation, assisting with preparing quarterly income tax accounting work papers, addressing questions and requests from third party tax preparer and drafting annual report/franchise tax filings.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in Accounting, Financial Reporting and/or other related experience

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience in public company financial reporting
  • Prior experience within the banking or financial services industry

 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong user of Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel
  • High level of comfort with use of various systems and software, including financial reporting software, share tracking software, general ledger and information systems and various other systems
  • Strong of understanding of core accounting concepts (GAAP)
  • Detail-oriented and analytical
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as financial statements, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Strong English grammar skills
  • Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and operational procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills to allow for effective communication and collaboration
  • Willing and able to work overtime, including weekends, as needed

 

Supervisory Skills: 

  • This job has no people based supervisory responsibilities. There is a level of project based supervision required in order to manage the tracking and coordination of third party requests.
