Job Description

The Jackson Laboratory(JAX) has an exciting opportunity available for an Innovation Specialist/Senior Innovation Specialist working in our Bar Harbor, Maine campus! The Innovation Specialist is a key leader in establishing and maintaining a culture of continuous innovation and improvement for operational teams in our Reproductive Sciences group through conceiving, developing and project managing innovations to reduce costs, increase throughput, improve quality and maintain JAX as a leader in the Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ARTs) space. The Innovation Specialist will bring an understanding of reproductive biology and ARTs (including In Vitro Fertilization, embryo transfer and cryopreservation) as well as the ability to work with team leaders and front-line staff to identify, and prioritize improvement and innovation opportunities. Working independently as well as with operations teams, the Innovation Specialist will conduct experiments and manage projects leading to process improvements and new technologies. The Innovation Specialist will also oversee the transfer of processes and technology to operations teams to generate measurable improvements.

Innovation Specialist: Bachelor's degree and three years of research/service experience; one year of process improvement experience
Senior Innovation Specialist: Bachelor's degree, MS/PhD/MBA preferred and five years of research/service experience; two years of process improvement experience
Ability to lead diverse, cross functional teams (including supervisors, technicians and others) in experiments, projects and change management.
Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with people from a wide range of scientific and business backgrounds and through a wide variety of methods (email, web content, SOPs, scientific manuscripts, seminars, training sessions, meetings, etc).
Ability to design sound experiments, analyze and interpret data to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
Exceptional organizational skills to manage the innovation work of many technicians. Ability to work with supervisors to coordinate technicians' schedules. Strong ability to manage projects to meet goals and timelines.
Ability to continuously gain and develop new skills that will directly support development of the RS innovation effort
