The University of Maine Farmington is seeking applicants for the position of Internship Coordinator for the Office Global Education. The Internship Coordinator is the principal professional responsible for developing and administering Internships for UMF across campus supporting students and faculty in all departments and disciplines.

Essential Duties:

+ Assist UMF students in identifying internships, the development and implementation of internship work plans in collaboration with faculty and internship supervisors

+ Identify, develop, and register in UMF databases for internship opportunities in collaboration with faculty and community organizations

+ Hold student workshops and make class presentations each semester to inform students about the importance of and opportunities for internships

+ Communicate with faculty and registrar to ensure that students receive appropriate academic credit for their Internships

+ Provide an orientation for interns and new supervisors prior to intern placements each semester (fall, winter, spring, summer)

+ Check-in mid-semester with interns and supervisors and collect evaluations from both at the end of the internship in collaboration with faculty

+ Collect data and maintain archives of all internship opportunities and internships completed by UMF students, including both for-credit and non-credit, and submit a mid-year and annual report to the Associate Dean of Experiential & Global Education (EGE)

+ Contribute to the UMF and EGE websites and social media pages, providing support to UMF/UMS public relations and marketing strategies advertising internship opportunities and experiences at UMF

+ Identify and supervise student employees to support social media content and internship programming (e.g., workshops and career fairs)

+ Advertise, advise, and compile applications for internship scholarships for review and approval by the internship scholarship committee

+ Fulfill stewardship responsibilities related to grants in support of Internships, including acknowledgment of awards, paperwork to ensure students receive internship stipends, monitor internship hours completed as required, preparation of fiscal and program reports, and maintenance of ongoing contracts with grantors in collaboration with the Associate Dean of EGE

+ Identify and develop new funding sources for internships scholarships in collaboration with the Associate Dean of EGE

+ Advising and coaching students, in conjunction with the office of Career Services, on matters of professional and personal development as students explore and make i nternship and career decisions

Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Associate Dean for Experiential & Global Education

Supervisory Responsibilities: Student staff (as needed)

Working Conditions: Mostly on campus to meet with students and faculty with some meetings of campus with community organizations interested in or currently hosting interns.

Qualifications:

Required:

+ Bachelor’s degree;

+ Experience with Inter nships, having participated in an internship and/or promoting internships

+ Well-developed verbal and written communications skills and the ability to make effective presentations to large and small groups

+ Excellent organizational skills and successful experience managing events and other complex activities

+ Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community organization representatives

Preferred:

+ Master’s Degree

+ 2 to 4 years of professional experience

+ Experience working with students using student development model(s)

+ Program management experience

+ Outreach coordination experience
