L.L.Bean is currently searching for an Inventory Forecaster to join the Supply Chain team located in Freeport, Maine

Position Purpose:

Establishes and maintains accurate sales forecasts to the item/color level in support of optimal purchasing and allocation by effectively employing systems, tools (Blue Yonder Demand), process, and standardized reporting; as well as strategic input from cross-functional partners. Understanding these dependencies, this role develops and continuously improves the forecasts and provides analytical insight as the means of supporting the successful implementation of L.L.Bean’s and Inventory Management’s strategic objectives. Contributes independently for assigned product categories with medium to high complexity and may mentor others.

Responsibilities:

+ Maintains best practices for forecasting. Effectively manages forecasts for a large/complex part of the business. Helps drive process improvement of methodologies and SOP’s pertaining to the optimal use of Blue Yonder Demand. Supports piloting of advanced methods.

+ Shares knowledge and helps drive forecasting process, works to influence, and align channel targets and Merchant intent for assigned categories. Manages seasonal forecast review presentations.

+ Drives and ensures forecasting accuracy for assigned categories. Manages weekly meetings to review trends and metrics in accordance with the standard forecasting process. Regularly demonstrates ability to navigate ambiguous situations and drives effective decision making focused on business results.

+ Partners effectively with department leadership and collaborates with cross-functional team members to ensure omni-channel deliverables are met. Helps monitor, prioritize, and implement the day-to-day execution of assigned tasks, responsibilities, and coordination of team workload.

+ Provides insight and analytical ability into the identification of patterns and relationships in data to break through a high level of detail. Promotes an objective view of findings, formulates conclusions and summarizes clearly. Ensures a proactive approach to identifying & managing business trends versus reacting to issues.

+ Supports and helps drive continuous improvement efforts. Helps pilot advanced methods and assists in assessing outcomes.

+ Demonstrates business acumen and cross-functional knowledge in understanding strategic planning across channels. Maintains awareness of forecasting approaches for all categories, as well as the buying/allocation functions as they relate to the end-to-end, omni-channel process. Supports company-wide strategic efforts and quickly adapts to workflow and business impacts.

+ Effectively represents Inventory Management with other functional areas to address short to midterm issues.

+ Educates understanding of current forecasting strategies and future direction across the organization, actively develops new approaches for working together. Collaborates with Merchandising & Merch Planning to ensure efforts are aligned with category and style growth strategies.

+ Influences strategic and tactical alignment with Merchants and Merch Planning to align strategically and jointly to achieve omni-channel sales and profitability goals.

+ Engages in ongoing relationship development and management across a broad range of omni-channel business partners and peer leaders in Merchandising, Buying, Store Allocations, Marketing, Merchandise Planning, etc.

+ BS/BA required

+ 4+ years of relevant experience required

+ Forecasting and/or planning related experience/knowledge

+ Blue Yonder Demand forecasting experience highly valued

+ Strong analytical skills

+ Proven problem solving and decision-making skills

+ Strong Excel and systems aptitude

+ Ability to work in a systematic and organized approach

+ Strong attention to detail; works in a precise, methodical manner

+ Effectively utilizes guidelines, processes, and tools for success

+ Delivers quality results within tight timelines

+ Strong interpersonal skills, team player, and results-oriented

+ Strong communicator

+ Engaged, self-motivated with a positive presence
