ReVision Energy’s South Portland ME location is looking for someone to join the Commercial Design and Estimating team as a Commercial Solar Designer and Estimator . The ideal candidate will be located in or have plans to relocate to southern Maine.

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Commercial Solar Designer and Estimator plays a key role in supporting the Commercial Design and Estimating Team prepare project estimates and design complex PV s ystems . This position works closely with other members of the team to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner and without flaws. RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):

+ U nderstand grid tied photovoltaic system design ( 1 00kW – 5MW AC)

+ Use solar modeling software to provide accurate energy production estimates

+ Specify system components , prepare one-line electrical drawings , and site plans using AutoCAD software for utility interconnection, permitting , and construction drawings .

+ Generate pricing for complex commercial solar projects .

+ Work closely with the Development Team , Civil Engineers , Surveyors to assist with technical guidance and refine project design to overcome site-specific challenges .

+ Work closely with Operations Team and Project Managers to provide design support prior to and during construction.

+ Visit project sites to learn how installation procedures affect project design and generate ‘as built’ drawings following system completion .


+ Must bring a positive attitude

+ Minimum 2-4 years’ work experience designing commercial and/ or utility scale solar projects

+ Proficient at modeling solar system production using PVsyst, Helioscope or similar modeling program

+ Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC)

+ Must have strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work self-guided . Must be able to set priorities in a fast-paced , high-pressure environment and m anage multiple different projects at varying stages.

+ Requires a technical and analytical aptitude , good at problem solving

+ Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with teammates – fostering a positive team environment

+ Must have good oral and written communication skills

+ Working knowledge of AutoCAD

+ Proficiency with Microsoft platforms, specifically Excel and other commonly used software including email, video conferencing and project management applications. Able to quickly and easily learn new programs.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS (desired but not required) :

+ Experience designing Storage and/or Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations

+ Able to prepare construction -level drawings using AutoCAD

+ NABCEP certification

+ Four-year college degree – technical or engineering backgrounds preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

+ Limited physical effort

+ Regularly operates computer and phone

+ Monthly site visits to project sites
