We are looking for a passionate, caring, and energetic hygienist to join our Portland team!

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the direct provision of oral hygiene and appropriate preventive services to dental patients in a community health care setting.


Assists in the oral health management of patients.

Provide oral health education and appropriate individual counseling for all dental patients.

Provide clinical oral hygiene services, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application, and fluoride application consistent with accepted professional practices and standards and in compliance with state law and the organization's clinical protocols.

Perform independent procedures delegated and directed by a dentist following state regulations and law and organization protocol and directives.

Licenses: Unrestricted license to practice Dental Hygiene in the State of Maine.

Certifications: Current CPR (BLS) certification.

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Dental Hygiene.

Job-Related Experience Required: Dental Hygiene experience is desirable but not required.

Other Special Skills Required: Requires a comprehensive knowledge of oral hygiene care in outpatient settings. Knowledge of the principles and practice of modern oral hygiene and periodontal patient care is necessary. Must be mindful of public health, social and economic factors that impact overall health, and patient's oral health. The ability to creatively solve problems through individual and programmatic action is an integral part of this position.

Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting or standing may be required. The Dental Hygienist will perform those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination customarily associated with modern oral hygiene on a repetitive basis. In addition, the ability to utilize telephone, computer terminals, and copiers is required. Work under stressful conditions, as well as irregular hours, may be necessary. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, radiation, and other conditions common to a clinical environment are routinely encountered.

OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure Classification:

Category I: Position involves tasks that involve the potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them.

Required Safety Equipment: Safety Eyeglasses/Face shields, Surgical Mask/N95, Gloves, and Gowns.
