About the Position
VHB is seeking a mid to senior-level Transportation/Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Systems Team in our South Burlington, VT office. The successful candidate will work with an integrated team of planners, engineers, scientists, and designers on a wide range of projects for public, private, and institutional clients.
Responsibilities
Work with a team of professionals in a variety of transportation-related areas to develop mobility solutions which consider all users integrating Complete Street concepts within urban and suburban communities
Manage transportation engineering and planning projects, including the planning and design of intersection improvements, multimodal facilities, and transportation corridors.
Lead multi-modal transportation analyses
Prepare traffic impact, corridor, and intersection improvement studies
Lead the design of traffic related aspects of larger transportation projects, including intersections, pedestrian, and bicycle accommodations.
Conduct research, prepare reports, and present findings and results to clients
Develop proposals and scopes of work, track project budgets, and manage project teams
Skills and Attributes
Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in civil engineering
Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design
Skilled in industry-standard engineering design and analysis systems (e.g., CAD, GIS, stormwaterhydrology and hydraulics, traffic simulation)
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
Experience with AutoCAD/Microstation a plus
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Motivated to lead and mentor others
Ability to think critically and strategically
Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and
Collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers.
Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented

Qualifications
5-8+ years of traffic engineering experience
BS in Civil Engineering (a master's degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
PE license expected
Experience with traffic analysis software (Synchro, HCS) required
