Job Description

The Jackson Laboratory Facilities Engineering Department has a number of exciting construction projects planned for summer 2022. These projects vary in size and complexity and include science laboratory renovations, office renovations, electrical infrastructure replacements, new housing, and other projects. With the busy summer ahead, the department is seeking candidates for a summer Construction Site Superintendent Intern position.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Project management assistance for a variety of civil/architectural/mechanical/electrical projects.
Site superintendent assistance for the Senior Construction Site Superintendent including documentation of observed conditions, assistance with testing and evaluations, and assistance with meeting minutes and project research/filing work.
Other duties will include smaller projects as assigned and other research/ documentation for the department.

Candidate must have completed their sophomore year in one of the following majors: construction management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture or similar. Prior work experience may be substituted.
Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills required. Basic computer graphic skills desired.
Must be reliable, responsible, organized, and professional.
Ability to work independently without specific direction on routine work as well as on occasional assigned special projects required.
Must be available to work 40 hours weekly between the hours of 7:00am and 4:00pm, Mon-Fri.
Experience reading blueprints and using AutoCAD or Revit preferred.
Availability to work evenings and/or weekends on occasion is preferred.
Preferred dates of work are from mid-May through mid-August. Dates are flexible for the right candidate.

This position will be funded for 12-14 weeks from late May-mid August will report to the Senior Construction Site Superintendent.
