Primary Responsibilities
HDR Engineering is seeking a Structural EIT/Designer to join our hydropower professional team in our Portland, ME office.
The primary responsibilities of the Structural EIT/Designer include analysis and design of structural steel and concrete structures. Duties will also include fieldwork, including site inspections. Will be responsible for preparation and or checking of design criteria, calculations, drawings, permitting documents, construction specifications, and bid packages and review and evaluation of bid packages. Responsibilities also include construction oversight, monitoring of field explorations, and preparation of inspection reports. Work also includes assisting with dam safety inspections, evaluation of instrumentation, and preparation of inspection and safety assessment reports. Fieldwork and overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
EIT or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire is required, and the candidate should be on track towards obtaining PE
1+ years civil engineering work experience is desirable, including some or all of the following: structural steel and reinforced concrete analysis and design, geotechnical analysis and design, experience with hydroelectric/water resources projects and construction projects, but will consider more entry-level candidates with an EIT, strong educational background and other qualifications below.
Expertise with Excel, AutoCAD, and structural analysis software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to handle multiple assignments successfully.
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Candidates who reside locally in the Portland/New England area are preferred.
