Accepting applicants for WATER & SEWER SUPERVISOR with the City’s Public Works Department.

Barg. Unit:      AFSCME- Professional Technical Unit (ProTech)

Status:             Full-Time 40+ hours/week

Grade:             4 ($20.03 hourly)


EXPERIENCE: Applicants should have five (5) years experience in Water & Sewer and at least two (2) years supervisory experience. In-depth knowledge of the water and sewer infrastructure and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel, contractors, plumbers and the public are required. Must have a valid State of Maine Class B driver’s license.


Other licenses/certifications (already have or able to obtain): Class III Water Operator’s License, State Laboratory Certification, NEWWA Backflow Prevention Device Tester Certification, NEWWA Cross-Connection Control Survey Certification.


WORK ACTIVITIES: Manages personnel and crews in various day-to-day activities relating to the maintenance and construction of the distribution system. Responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating daily operations. Trains personnel and keeps accurate records of work performed and materials used. Coordinates and oversees confined space entry and training. Investigates and responds to complaints and requests for services from the public. Responsible for job site safety- including trench shoring, job site signage in accordance with the MUTCD, and use of appropriate personal protective equipment, among others.  Routinely uses computer for office functions, workload control, email, internet and GIS functions as relates to maintenance of water and sewer systems. Performs other duties as assigned.
