Job Description

The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is now accepting applications for a Part-Time custodian, 24 hours per week, late evening shifts, Wednesday through Saturday.

Join a team geared to provide quality programs that promote the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility to the greater Auburn-Lewiston area.

Thorough custodial, light maintenance, snow removal and evening security duties necessary to support quality programs and special events help to describe the position.

Points of emphasis include:

• Understanding of the YMCA mission and role as a community-oriented organization·
• Ability to establish good customer service/relations with members of the YMCA as an “Ambassador”·
• Motivated to maintain clean, safe environment·
• Ability to work with tools safely and effectively·
• Evening availability required

Requirements:

Experience: Hands-on experience in commercial environment preferred

Training: CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required within six months of hire

Special Skills:

• Practice proper safety techniques at all times·
• Basic knowledge of working hand tools and garden equipment
• Professionalism when addressing concerns and interacting with people
• Professional appearance consistent with the function of the position and appropriate for an organization that emphasizes the importance of wellness

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs. or greater
• Must be able to work on ladders and in areas elevated from the ground

Mental Requirements:

• Ability to receive and follow general instructions
• Capable of working under pressure
• Capable of working alone and with others
• Strong communication skills with supervisor to diagnose problems and generate solutions
