Job Summary:MaineGeneral Health Patient service reps are the pillar of our practices. Each PSR acts as a patient advocate, access specialist and service coordinator. Ensuring the needs of our patients, family members, medical personal and administrative staff are met. You develop strong and sometimes lifelong relationships with individuals in your community; providing care and support in some of the most significant times of their lives..What makes a great PSR? A talented PSR can come from a variety of previous experiences; from medical office, to teaching, to retail, food services, direct patient care and many other roles. MaineGeneral Health PSRs often have variety of roles and responsibilities. Your day will never be boring! You will schedule appointments, collect insurance information, maintain patient records and facilitate communication, often acting as a liaison between different health care providers such as the doctor and the lab. Acting in this capacity requires a wide range of skills, including computer proficiency, multitasking, and the ability to work independently. *Mon, Thurs, E/O weekend schedule! *
+ Greets and registers patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
+ Answers telephones, takes messages, provides non-medical information and distributes calls.
+ Use electronic medical records system to provide information and/or request information from providers and other clinical personnel.
+ Schedules appointments for routine and acute care.
+ Assists with coverage in other areas of front office as needed.
+ Reviews EMR encounter for accuracy and follow-up as necessary.
+ Prepares paperwork for patient visit, prompts patients for demographic and insurance data, explains consent form and obtains signature in accordance with consent standard.
+ Discharges patient, collects co-pays and outstanding balances, schedules future appointments for follow-up care and forwards appropriate referral paperwork if indicated.
+ Provides patient with appropriate paperwork for further diagnostic testing as indicated in patient’s electronic medical record and as appropriate.
The ideal candidate will have:
+ Proficiency in a suite of Microsoft Office applications
+ Billing/coding experience helpful, medical terminology preferred, accounts receivable/cash handling experience
+ Ability to work independently, effective time management and problem solving skills, able to manage multiple priorities
+ Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
+ Confident and effective oral and written communication skills
