Job Description

The CECL & Credit Risk Analytics Manager will be responsible for management of the Company’s Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) model and various loan portfolio credit risk analytics and functions. In this role the individual will: implement, direct and execute necessary model risk management practices and policies to ensure the integrity of the model, including statistical, credit and financial analysis to support various model inputs and judgments; oversee the execution of CECL model documentation and execution of controls; support the various audit cycles, including internal and external audits, regulatory exams and other reviews; and drive and support internal and external reporting as it pertains to CECL and related credit risk analytics.  This role will oversee a team of analysts that support the CECL model and perform various loan portfolio credit risk analytics and will work closely with the Controller and others within Finance and Accounting, as well as with Credit, Commercial Administration, Collections and Special Assets, Risk Management and Loan Servicing teams.

 

This position is based in Camden, Maine and offers the flexibility of working from home up to two days per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee and manage the monthly and quarterly analysis of the Company’s allowance for credit losses (ACL) in accordance with GAAP (ASC 326 and ASC 310) and OCC requirements, including routine forecasts and budgets

  • Oversee the CECL model and its various inputs and assumptions in accordance with policies and the control environment, including documentation of the model and its various key inputs, assumptions and judgments

  • Act as a primary point of contact for the CECL model and the Company’s ACL for the various audits and reviews across the Company, including internal and external audits, regulatory exams and any other review as needed, with direct interactions with internal and external auditors, as well as with the Company’s regulators, and work directly with various other business lines to support such efforts

  • Routine development and execution of statistical, credit and financial analysis to support quantitative and qualitative loss factors, and more broadly to identify developing risks and trends within the portfolio and its overall impact on loan portfolio profitability

  • Oversee the ACL policy including any and all updates and enhancements, which may include feedback from internal and external parties through routine audits, exams and reviews

  • Support various Executive and Senior Management CECL and Credit Risk-related governance committees. This will include preparing materials for and presenting at these meetings

  • Direct and provide oversight for various loan portfolio credit risk analytics, including stress testing and sensitivity analysis, interpreting the results to identify trends

  • Manage a team of dedicated analysts to direct functions and tasks, and establish priorities.

  • Manage critical vendor relationships within the business line, including the software used that supports the Company’s CECL model

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or other related field

  • 4+ years of related work experience, such as valuation, accounting, or loan portfolio analytics

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory experience

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with CECL / ASC 326 and TDR / ASC 310 (FAS 114)

  • Experience presenting topics to Senior Management

 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong understanding of valuation models

  • Understanding of accounting reserve principles

  • Able to work with large quantities of data / information and synthesize to use to understand trends and risks, and inform decisions and recommendations

  • Effective communication skills and strong writing/documentation skills

  • Able to read and interpret technical documents and draw conclusions and/or recommendations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and other data systems

 

Supervisory Skills: 

  • Directly supervise a team of exempt stakeholders

  • Requires a focus on coaching and development for high performance
