CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER-ELECTRICAL

Join a growing, dynamic team to enhance the safety and quality of life of Portland’s residents, visitors, and workers. The code enforcement officer (electrical) works both independently and as part of a team to enforce electrical, plumbing, and building codes (Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code - MUBEC), and other city ordinances. This self-motivated individual will conduct field inspections, review building/electrical plans, and communicate effectively with the public to resolve code violations. A high school diploma, supplemented by courses in structural design, architecture, fire science technology is preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge and experience in building trades, general inspection work, and plan review, as well as familiarity with computer programs including laptop/field tablet equipment is a plus. The candidate must possess a valid State of Maine Master Electrician License, Class C driver’s license and a personal vehicle available for work use. The candidate must also have State of Maine Certification in legal issues, internal plumbing, subsurface wastewater disposal, land use, and building, energy, and ventilation standards, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Pay range starting at $937.13/week ($24.99/hour), plus an additional 3% stipend for possessing a current Maine Master Electricians License.
