Part-Time Faculty, Nursing Theory Instructor – Revised 1-21-22 Campus: UMA Augusta Department: Nursing – ANURS Bargaining Unit: PATFA Salary Band/Wage Band: Salary is based on credit hours and is commensurate with qualifications and previous college teaching experience, in accordance with the PATFA contract. The University of Maine at Augusta’s Nursing Program is seeking qualified applicants for part-time instructors to teach theory and/or clinical in our program. UMA has a holistic RN-BSN program that has AHNCC endorsement and started admitting students to the pre-licensure option concept-based curriculum which emphasizes caring science in fall 2019. We seek candidates who demonstrate expertise in evidence-based best practices in teaching nursing, a passion for nursing and teaching, a commitment to support diversity and student success, and a desire to join and collaborate with program faculty to implement these practices. Our teaching facilities include a state-of-the-art simulation center on the Augusta campus and smart classrooms. The faculty at the University of Maine at Augusta has a strong tradition of serving the needs of local and distance students. Responsibilities include teaching didactic courses in the BSN pre-licensure and RN-BSN program options in both synchronous blended classrooms and online as needed. Review of applications is ongoing. We anticipate a need for instructors for the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters; however, positions may or may not be immediately available. Part-time faculty are paid per credit hour. + Current licensure as an RN in the State of Maine, or eligibility for Maine licensure

+ A Master of Science degree in Nursing

+ Three or more years of teaching at the college level

+ The ability to teach effectively at both the pre-licensure and RN-BSN level, and some combined courses as needed

+ Teaching that includes the use of new technologies and delivery systems; experience teaching students at a distance

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in nursing or closely related field (required to pursue tenure)

+ National certification as an Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHNCC), or willing to seek certification

+ Teaching experience within a concept based curriculum with an emphasis on caring science

+ Experience in teaching in simulation and online environments
