This role can be based in any US City with a CBRE office.
This role will serve as the Life Science real estate industry expert to the investment market and ensure that CBRE is the preeminent global thought leader in the space. The ideal candidate will seek opportunities to participate in client meetings, be visible to the real estate community and seek external speaking opportunities, as well as promote the CBRE Research product to the media in partnership with CBRE Communications and Life Sciences leadership. This role is responsible for spearheading the production of market analysis and timely white papers addressing market trends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Partner with Life Sciences business leaders within CBRE and the industry
•Develop innovative points of view for investment in the Life Science real estate market and incorporate findings into presentations and white papers
•Develop deep relationships with key Life Science investment clients to share perspectives on market conditions
•Present at conferences about the state of the Life Science investment market, both in the US and globally
•Evaluate opportunities to extract customer relevant insights from existing data
•Work collaboratively with other members of the CBRE research team on joint projects where appropriate
•Strong leadership skills and influencing skills
•Solid understanding of the commercial real estate business, particularly Life Sciences
•Prior experience in a commercial Research related function is highly preferred

Provides formal supervision to direct reports. Recommends staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Conducts performance appraisal and other performance discussions with individual employees. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company’s values.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
BA/BS from a four-year college or university in economics, finance, business administration or related field of study. Masters preferred. Minimum 10+ years of related experience.
Minimum 8 years of commercial real estate experience. Extensive local market/sector knowledge/experience required. Experience managing a team across multiple locations required.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Exceptional communication skills. Ability to synthesize information and translate ideas/concepts and trends into “consumable” insights, both in written and presentation format, that help internal and external clients use Research effectively in business development and decision-making. Ability to speak to the media about trends and topics.
Must have strong presentation skills for speaking engagements & client presentations.
Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Reviews complex financial/business analysis and reports prepared by subordinates. Ability to analyze the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions. Develops and implements financial policies and procedures. Approves and oversees department budget.
Effective/efficient problem-solver. Can make informed decisions when presented with conflicting information or opinions. Able to exhibit sound judgment and provide a clear path to resolution. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Ability to work as a team player in a matrixed environment. Can navigate the dynamics of a large company, with a centralized Research function, while also understanding how to support/align global, national and local initiatives.
Strong technical skills with a proficiency Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and amenable to learning and overseeing new technologies and systems related to data collection, extraction and tracking.
A mastery understanding of Research fundamentals and methodologies. Knowledge of how to apply research and data analytics expertise to the benefit our brand and core businesses.

Strong project management. Can oversee multiple large and complex projects, determine priorities and develop a through-line to completion, including harnessing the right resources and collaborating along the way. Utilizes the internal research team to assign sub projects.

The minimum salary for the Sr Research Director – Office, Tech & Life Sciences position is $250,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Sr Research Director – Office, Tech & Life Sciences position is $300,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicab
