As a member of the Development team, Software Engineer I's work with Product Designers and Researchers, within a product development team to create and write software solutions that respond directly to the operations and business requirements. A Software Engineer I is developing professional and technical expertise in a wide range of technical areas. A Software Engineer I is expected to be able to resolve routine issues and problems (both existing software products, and new products being developed), implement unit and integration tests, deploy applications, to deliver quality solutions to the business. Our Software Engineer I candidate will also be successful providing third tier technical support to help maintain proper functionality of business systems.
The Software Engineer reports to a Product Manager, IT.
Designs/codes applications following specifications using the appropriate tools.
Maintains and modifies existing applications on their own as well as under direction from senior staff members.
Performs maintenance programming, as needed, for existing products.
Assumes responsibility for ongoing client architecture for products
Develop technical, analytical, and agile competencies.
Participate in process improvement initiatives.
Troubleshooting functional issues and responding to 'voice-of-the-customer' problems needing solving.
Excellent skills in supporting customers through problem resolution.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area or equivalent education or work experience, OR can convince us you don't need one for this position
Have 2+ years of development experience
Have 1+ years of experience developing code that imports and exports data from an application using formats such as plain text, JSON, and XML
Experience in development of ASP.NET MVC in a multi-tier architecture, HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery, or a demonstrable working understanding of at least one modern web framework
Expertise in SQL Server database design and SQL development, or a demonstrable working understanding of Relational datastores
Experience implementing unit tests and working with testing tools
Knowledge and experience in development using object-oriented programming
Expertise in Visual Studio IDE tools and Azure DevOps
Knowledge of Azure environment
Ability to effectively interact with non-technical management and business stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, industrial engineering or a related field of study. Equivalent experience via related work in project or product management and application leadership will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments. Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
Proven initiative and organizational skills to prioritize complex tasks, projects, and workflow, and use independent judgment to make decisions regarding operations and deadlines
Excellent analytical and technical skills
Exposure to Agile software development life cycle process and concepts such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Test-Driven Development
Ability to deliver on product roadmap in a frequent and iterative fashion
Ability to communicate ideas, strategies, risks and issues effectively
Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
