Job Description

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant-Payroll serves as the team lead over all facets of the competed integration from the HCM payroll system to the General Ledger/ERP system, including integration operations as well as issue maintenance and resolution. Additionally, the position has responsibility over all accounting for payroll, labor costs, and benefits. This individual works in a team serving as the bridge amongst, and providing direct support to the Assistant Controller, the Payroll team, and the Grants Accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:
Serves as lead in the Accounting team and is responsible for the completed integration of payroll and related data from the HCM system to the General Ledger/ERP system
Management of integrated components including HR/Payroll posting rules, pay codes, cost allocations, and system "crosswalks" (data mapping amongst the various systems)
Monitors integration issues and system errors ("kickouts") and resolution of such kickouts through liaising with the Information Technology (IT) team, along with identification of opportunities for efficiency on system coding integration.
Processes payroll and labor templates; processes labor cost transfers for GL corrections; Tests new changes to the payroll system and impacts on accounting and General Ledger and Grants systems; validates changes in benefit plans and correct system execution for changes in benefits and retirement plans; reconciles Payroll and GL account; processes recurring journals associated with Payroll and Benefits.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance from an accredited college/university and at least 5 years of experience in General Ledger maintenance, along with Payroll accounting experience.
Demonstrated ability to effectively assist in leading a team of Accountants in all facets of General Ledger administration and related financial compliance.
Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with shifting responsibilities and priorities; ability to re-prioritize efforts without losing sight of required outcomes.
Proven experience in analyzing and interpreting financial data and preparing financial reports, statements, and/or projections in an accurate and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability and experience with large/complex GL account and payroll systems, and related maintenance, administration and reporting.
