Postdoctoral Associate
Korstanje Lab | Bar Harbor, ME

The research group led by Associate Professor Ron Korstanje at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine is seeking a postdoctoral fellow interested in the genetics underlying different forms of kidney disease, specifically, the identification and characterization of modifier genes involved in diabetic nephropathy, Alport Syndrome, and polycystic kidney disease. This position is ideally suited for an individual with a strong background in molecular biology who is also interested in learning (quantitative) genetics and renal pathology. Dr. Korstanje and his colleagues at JAX have significant expertise in the genetics of kidney disease, and ample opportunities will be provided for independent training in cutting edge genetics and genomics, including genome editing. Required Skills:
A background in molecular biology is required. We value the ability to plan, execute and analyze an independent research project as well as exceptional verbal, written communication skills, adaptability, and desire for lifelong learning.

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in biological or related life sciences is required.
Background in molecular biology, with interests in learning genetics and pathology.
Exceptional communication and management skills;
Self-motivated;
Experience working with rodent models is preferred
