Job Description

Knox County Homeless Coalition is looking for a compassionate team player who wants to join us in our mission to end the cycle of poverty and homelessness in Mid-coast Maine. We are currently seeking a full-time Facilities Coordinator to join our Operations team!

Knox County Homeless Coalition offers comprehensive programs and services to adults, families, and youth in Midcoast Maine. We deliver wrap-around programming and support to our clients, including Comprehensive Case Management services, The Hospitality House Family Shelter, and The Landing Place Youth Program. Everything we do is delivered with respect, dignity, and genuine caring, delivering on our promise of home, help, and hope.

The Facilities Coordinator will support the agency in many ways, first and foremost by being the go-to person to contact when facility and supply needs arise at any of our three locations in Rockport and Rockland. The Coordinator will troubleshoot and problem solve, whether that requires a basic repair or restocking, or reaching out to an external vendor for support.  They will be the main point of contact for all facility vendors, including security, fuel, plowing, vehicles, mowing, garbage/recycling disposal, copiers, and cleaners, among others. The Facilities Coordinator will manage and support all buildings and programs with the inventory and purchasing of supplies, including supervising the Supply Center Coordinator, who is responsible for accepting donations, purchasing, and organizing an inventory of furniture, as well as emergency supplies and food for our clients. This staff member should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, non-profit environment and possess the ability to remain organized and efficient while managing multiple tasks. The Facilities Coordinator will be onsite and hands-on, helping to keep the office and facilities tidy and safe for our staff and clients. 

We seek caring, honest, creative, and supportive staff members who are collaborative-minded, solutions-oriented, non-judgmental, and capable of maintaining perspective, as well as a sense of humor. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and follow-through skills, be able to communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully with diverse audiences, and possess a keen attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work. The Coordinator will be self-motivated, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.  The Facilities Coordinator will be expected to have access to a personal vehicle, should possess a valid driver’s license, and have a safe driving record of at least two years. Ability to tackle minor repairs and improvements is helpful, but not required. This is a Monday - Friday position, with on-call responsibilities to respond to the occasional, facility-related emergency during off-hours. 

This position will pay $18 - $20 / hour, based on experience. Background and license checks are required prior to hire.

KCHC continues to monitor the COVID-19 crisis and has implemented protocols which attempt to minimize risk for staff and clients. As employees providing a critical service to our community, we have an important responsibility to continue our essential work. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our teams have shifted to working remotely from home, when possible. This role is currently based out of our Rockport location and will have daily onsite job functions. There may be some ability to occasionally work remotely after an initial onboarding and training period.
