The Assistant Military Fire Chief is essential to maintain minimum staffing that is required by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Defense. They respond to both civilian and military aircraft emergencies and maintain Base and Airport fire prevention, fire suppression and safety equipment, using military and civilian guidelines to insure proper and effective operation.
+ Sets up and commands a control post that integrates a combination of facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures, and communications to direct firefighting and rescue operations, issue maneuver directives, and protect lives and property.
+ Investigates fires to determine causes.
+ Directs, monitors, and evaluates classroom and practical firefighting and rescue training programs of assigned crews to ensure optimal firefighting and rescue proficiency.
+ Plans, conducts, and participates in specialized training drills and exercises to maintain established standards of proficiency for firefighting personnel.
+ Assists Air National Guard Wing leadership with the collection and analysis of established data points to develop and conduct self-assessment activities, identify deficiencies and areas of improvement, and to document compliance with national standards and accredited fire fighter certification program.
+ Oversees and coordinates Air National Guard Wing and Geographical Support Unit (BSU) plans to ensure operational readiness and compliance with established agency objectives.
+ Oversees the establishment of objectives, priorities, and daily work schedules to ensure unit readiness.
+ Implements and complies with human resource laws, policies, procedures, and practices such as: AA/EEO, recruitment, employment, position classification, performance appraisals, training, discipline, contract administration, human resource components of security protocols of agency information security and confidentiality policies, and employee safety.
Seven (7) years experience in aircraft and structure firefighting and crash-rescue operations. Experience must include four (4) years in directing and supervising firefighting operations.
Must be a current employee of Department of Defense, Veterans & Emergency Management

+ The value of State-paid Dental Insurance: $14.60 biweekly.
