Job Description

Front Desk Clerk, Hotel/Motel Brown Bros Inc dba Browns Wharf Inn, Boothbay Harbor, ME; 5 temp, full time, seasonal jobs, 04/01/22 to 10/25/22. $13.78/hr to $16.00/hr. 36 hours. Possibility but no guarantee of OT ($20.67/hr to $24.00/hr). Make and confirm room reservations; greet, register, and assign rooms to guests through the use of a computer; issue room keys; assist with bags/luggage when necessary; answer guests questions; establish forms of payment and verify guest’s credit; maintain records of room availability and guest accounts; post charges for rooms; review accounts and charges with guests during checkout process; compute bills; collect payments, cash handling and making change for guests; answer telephone calls; transmit and receive messages; and contact proper staff to report and resolve guest problems. Make and confirm marina (boat slip) reservations; record in marina logbook; process appropriate payments for marina guest check-ins. Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, shopping, dining, entertainment and travel directions. Post charges, such as those for rooms, food, liquor, or telephone calls to rooms by using computers. Record guest comments or complaints, referring customers to managers as necessary. Advise housekeeping staff when rooms have been vacated and are ready for cleaning. Perform bookkeeping activities, such as balancing accounts and conducting nightly audits. Clean and maintain lobby and common areas, such as restocking supplies and watering plants. Monitor guest refreshment area to ensure properly stocked at all times; replenish as needed. Rotating shifts: 7 am to 3 pm; 8 am to 1 pm; 1 pm to 8 pm; 3 pm to 11 pm. Must work weekends & holidays. 6 months hotel/motel front desk exp required. No education required. Will train. A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. Workers will be paid weekly on Wednesday. All deductions required by law from the worker’s paycheck will be made. Supplies, work tools and equipment are provided free. Optional, limited employer owned group housing subject to availability; Shared room: $85.00 per wk, Single room: $110.00 per week will be deducted from paycheck weekly. Visa and related fees including those mandated by the government will be reimbursed in the first work week. Transportation, (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging), to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half of the employment period. Employer agrees to reimburse inbound transportation and subsistence expenses (subsistence is $13.17 per day minimum, without receipts, to a maximum of $55.00 per day, with receipts) from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employers, whether in the US or abroad, to the place of employment. Return transportation and subsistence will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Guarantee to offer work for hours equal to at least 3/4ths of the workdays in each 12-wk period for the total employment period.
