Job Description

The Anchorage Motor Inns of York at 265 Long Beach Ave, York Beach, ME 03910 – We are hiring for 8 temporary full-time café associates.  04/01/2022 – 11/1/2022 in York Beach, ME.  $12.75/hr.  35 hrs/week.  Overtime may be available/not guaranteed at $19.13/hr.  Employees must complete company training (paid).  

Duties: Communicate with customers regarding orders, payment, and change.  Prepare simple food items such as sandwiches and salads, toast bagels, make coffee and cold drinks; distribute food and drinks to guests at the counter. Wash all kitchen & serving equipment.  Restock bulk items as needed, including bagels, muffins, donuts, and coffee accompaniments.  Mopping, sweeping or polishing common areas; disposing of trash and straightening the serving area.  Following all company and safety and security policies and procedures; reporting any maintenance problems; completing necessary training; properly storing materials.  Ensuring uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information. Hours may vary based on business needs.  All other duties as assigned.  Cafe Associates will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull, and be able to move continuously during work hours. Some areas of the Inn are stairs access only. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.  Cleaning guidelines may change/be adjusted due to COVID19.    

Education/experience: No educational experience is required.  No work experience is required.

Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due & workers will be paid weekly.  Optional housing may be available – employer can assist in finding housing; if elected, weekly rate may vary from $85 - $175 depending on type & style and can be payroll deducted.  Some meal service may be available – if employee elects to utilize such a service then they will be payroll deducted.  Employer will make all deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by law.  Employer will reimburse employee of all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, included those mandated by government, incurred by the H-2B worker. The employer will pay for daily subsistence at least $13.17 per day during travel to a maximum of $55.00 per day with receipts.  The employer will provided the workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. Shift will vary based on business demands; open 7 days per week.  Typical work hours are 7am – 2pm but may vary based on business needs.  Evening shifts may be necessary.  Employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least ¾’s of the workdays in each 12 week period of the total employment period.  After the completion of 50% of the work period, employer will, in the next pay cycle, reimburse the H-2B worker for transportation and subsistence costs from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer to the place of employment, as required by 20 CFR 655.18(b)(12).  Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer.  The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.  All transportation costs are to be pre-approved and receipts must be submitted.  Applicants must be able to work at least a 5 day work schedule which will include weekends and holidays.   Applicants must complete an employment application; reference checks or letters of reference will be required for all new employees.
