Cooks: 2 openings at Taco Trio at 60 Ocean St., South Portland, ME, phone (207) 767-9055, preparing (Mexican) food: salsas; meats, vegetables and fruits; fresh beverages; marinades; and other basic ingredients. Blending, chopping, slicing, cleaning, peeling, dicing, using basic kitchen equipment. Cooking of all types: grilling, frying, baking, sauteing, braising, boiling, steaming, roasting, portioning, re-heating. Meal assembly and plating: burritos, tacos, tamales, enchiladas, tortas, weekly specials, and more. Includes preparing kitchen and foods for the day, starting equipment, gathering ingredients, cleaning work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, etc., closing kitchen at the end of day by cleaning, taking care of extra food/waste, shutting off equipment. 40+ hours per week, Sunday through Monday, as early as 9 AM and as late as 11 PM. Multiple shifts available; two main shifts are 9 AM to 4 PM and 4 PM to 11 PM; each cook will work one shift, five days per week, with rotating days off, and each may choose to work additional hours by adding another shift in a given day. $15 per hour starting wage, plus tips to reach a guaranteed minimum of $17.06 per hour in any given week (if tips are insufficient to reach $17.06), with possible increases based upon performance and skills acquired, temporary full-time position (04/01/2022-12/31/2022). No minimum education, no experience required, on-the-job training provided. Paid weekly. Standard payroll deductions as required by law.
Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if worker completes half the employment period; the amount for daily subsistence will be at least $13.17 per day during travel to a maximum of $55.00 per day with receipts; return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Reimbursement of visa, border and related fees within one week after start of work. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. The employer will provide workers, at no charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
