Job Description

Cook: 13 openings at Midcoast Hospitality Group, 609 Wiscasset Rd, Boothbay, ME 04537, Phone: (207) 315-6487. Cooks will work in Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Southport, Edgecomb, and East Boothbay, Maine. Duties include preparing foods and kitchen for the day, including chopping, cutting, pulling food from walk-ins, starting equipment, etc., preparing and cooking foods/meals to order according to recipes, serving prepared meals to waitstaff, cleaning work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, etc., closing kitchen at the end of the night by cleaning, taking care of food and waste, and shutting off all equipment; some workers may supervise/coordinate the work of other cooks during certain shifts.

A typical work week consists of 40 hours per week, or more (overtime is possible), with multiple shifts available. (note: the total number of 56 hours per week indicated above is misleading, due to the entry of 8 hours for each day of the week into the form, which is necessary because, with shifts typically lasting 8 hours, multiple shifts available, and variations in days off, workers may end up working on any day of the week and there is no specific day(s) when a worker is guaranteed not to work. This position is for 40 or more (40+) hours per week as indicated in the job order). A typical work week consists of 40+ hours, with multiple shifts available. All cooks will have 1-2 days off (varies). Where there are multiple shifts available, cooks may work as early as 6:30 am to as late as 11:00 pm.

$15.36/hr., OT possible at $23.04/hr.; temporary full-time position (04/01/22-10/15/22). No min. education or experience required; on-the-job training will be provided; performance-based bonus possible; discounted room and board for employees. Optional employer-provided housing available at $75-$100/week deducted from weekly pay. Paid biweekly based on workweek computation. Standard payroll deductions as required by law.

Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if worker completes half the employment period; the amount for daily subsistence will be at least $13.17 per day during travel to a maximum of $55.00 per day with receipts; return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Midcoast will reimburse all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees incurred by the worker, including those mandated by the government, within the first workweek. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. The employer will provide workers, at no charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
