Job Description
The Estimating Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing all estimating activities in regards to transmission and distribution bids, predominantly serving high voltage electrical distribution, transmission, and substation projects.
This role offers the flexibility of working at one of our offices located in Maine, Connecticut, Maryland, Illinois, and Texas.
Job Responsibilities
Work with operations to identify and select project estimates, request for proposals, and request for information events
Develop an overall estimate plan on larger projects and coordinate the estimating team, as necessary to roll up all information into the final estimate
Manage and assign estimating resources to projects selected to estimate
Participate in all estimate reviews alongside the Senior Management Team
Support business development with technical information and client meetings as requested
Foster and maintain strategic Subcontractor and Vendor relationships
Participate in contract and change order negotiations
Ensure that estimates address all potential safety risks and concerns, and comply with company standards and client requirements
Develop innovative means and methods for the completion of projects to increase our competitiveness and project margins
Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by the estimating management team
Ensure proposals are in alignment with the bidding opportunity and other factors
Coordinate with the Cianbro operations team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team
Continuously improve internal estimating templates and procedures and improve consistency with budgets and job cost tracking
Manage web-based procurement accounts of Cianbro
Perform additional duties, as required
Qualifications/ Requirements
Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience
Demonstrated ability to adapt to and manage in a fast-paced ever-changing environment
Minimum of five years estimating experience with utility-scale transmission, distribution, and/or substations
Strong computer skills, including estimating software (HCSS) and MS Office, and experience with scheduling on Primavera
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written, with the ability to produce highly professional estimates
Successful track record in client relations and uphold impeccable business ethics and standards
