Summary

For a limited time MaineHealth is offering up to $5,000 sign on for New Grad Registered Nurses, $10,000 Sign on bonus for all eligible experienced Registered Nurses with 1-3 years of experience and $20,000 for experienced Registered Nurses with greater than 3 years of experience!

Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.

Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

Candidates may qualify for loan forgiveness, tuition assistance and relocation assistance.

The team at Pen Bay is currently looking to add a Registered Nurse in a part-time role for 24 hours a week to support the day shift in the Medical Surgical department.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for providing excellent care to a variety of patients, including pediatric, general surgical, general medical, stroke, orthopedics, and urology.

Position Summary

 

The Medical/Surgical North RN is responsible for the excellent delivery of care to a variety of patients including; pediatric, general surgical, general medical, stroke, orthopedics, and urology. Working within a model of "Safe Patient Family Centered Care", the Medical/Surgical RN collaborates with the Health Care team to develop a plan of care, monitor the effectiveness of that plan, and to assist in the development of a discharge plan to best meet the patient's and families' needs. The Medical/Surgical RN works under the direction of the Medical/Surgical North Unit Manager.

 

Nursing expertise and clinical knowledge develop over time and are acquired through experience and exposure to different practice situations. Nurses must utilize multiple ways of thinking in order to cultivate the essential skills of clinical reasoning, critical thinking and clinical judgment. These skills will continue to develop as they progress through the stages of a career on their journey from novice to expert. Competence in these areas develops over a continuum and can be measured throughout each of these stages. The evaluator considers the expected stage of competency when rating the degree to which the nurse is performing.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

 

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current licensure on the State of Maine Board of Nursing.

Current BLS Certification.

ACLS Certification preferred (or attained within 2 years of hire).

Completion of departmental competencies within one month of hire.

Articulates elements of professional practice and demonstrates:

Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice and Patient and Family Centered Care

Understanding of teamwork and collaboration

Effective verbal/written communication skills

Knowledge of process improvement and sound safety strategies

Competence with computer applications
