Job Description

AMHC has an opportunity for a District Youth Coordinator based at the office in Caribou. 

The District Youth Coordinator for District 8 – Aroostook County, supports youth engagement programs and initiatives that build young people’s resilience and strengthen youth leadership on issues of public health, social justice, and restorative practices as part of the Statewide Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN).  This position is responsible for working collaboratively with other AMHC staff who are currently offering school-based youth services in helping to form and lead a public health youth policy board; supporting school and community-based youth leadership groups within the District; and co-facilitating District-level youth group and youth-adult partnership trainings as-needed with Statewide MYAN Staff, youth, and adults. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support youth-led and youth- serving programming that build young people’s resilience and strengthens youth leadership on issues of public health, restorative practices, and social justice per the MYAN initiative.

  • Effectively collaborates, convenes, and partners to build youth leadership and adults’ capacity to support youth in being leaders on public health and related issues.

  • Facilitates trainings and providing technical assistance to adults who partners with youth or implement public health.

  • Maintains accountability to goals of the work as stipulated in the MYAN MOU.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with external contacts.

  • Work collaboratively with other AMHC services that are being offered in the school setting to support effective communication about AMHC’s prevention work.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School diploma plus 2 years’ experience working with youth.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Public Health, Social Work, or Behavioral Sciences preferred.
