Position Summary:

The Activity Coordinator is a key member of the AMHC Adult & Child Crisis and Residential Team, who provides structured therapeutic recreational and expressive therapy services to the clients in the residential and crisis units. He/she serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and supports the facility’s treatment program and philosophy.

Responsibilities & Expectations:
  • Provide structured therapeutic recreational and expressive activities to Adults & Children as assigned and according to the unit schedules; group interventions will relate to the client’s treatment objectives and goals; effectively manage group process to maximize therapeutic benefit.
  • Utilizes behavioral concepts applicable to the treatment of those experiencing crisis, complex trauma, and serious emotional disturbance
  • Keep client and company information confidential.
  • Be a team player by sharing the responsibilities of the service and accountable to the results.
  • Provide a welcoming environment for individuals seeking mental health, substance use, co-occurring, community support, and rehabilitation and social services.
  • Engage and interact with individuals from different races, cultures, sexual orientation, and abilities.
  • Be available and flexible to meet client and company needs..
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • This position requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field or CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist) is preferred.
  • Experience with expressive arts, kinetic movement, and mindful activity preferred.
