The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for full-time and part-time Corrections Officers to work at the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.

Corrections Officers are responsible for providing and maintaining the safety and security of inmates at the County Jail. General job duties include maintaining discipline and orderly conduct among inmates and preparing inmates for court appearances. Full-time Officers will have a set schedule and part-time officers will be called in as needed to fill in for vacant shifts.

Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age. Successful candidates will be subject to a thorough background investigation and will attend a five-week training academy in Vassalboro within their first year of employment.

Full-time Offers are offered a competitive benefits package including Maine Public Employees Retirement System, health insurance, holidays, vacation and sick time and that’s just to name a few! Part-time starting hourly rate is $12.76 and full-time starting hourly rate is $16.23.
