The time is right to join HNTB! Our growing New Hampshire office is seeking a creative and technically sound Project Engineer eager to work on some of the region’s most complex bridge projects. The ideal candidate will be motivated to grow client relationships in New Hampshire and Vermont, increase their own individual multi-discipline knowledge, and strengthen a core team of outgoing structural engineers – all while maintaining their ideal work/life balance. Primary Focus Will Include:
+ Collaborating and supporting the guidance of a multi-discipline team to achieve successful completion of small to complex projects throughout New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.
+ Development and growth of junior staff.
+ Coordinating with clients to progress projects and build effective relationships.
+ Working alongside some of the region’s best engineers to prepare and/or check reports, plans, calculations, estimates, specifications, and designs for bridge projects and structural elements associated with roadway transportation projects.
+ Assisting with project management duties, including control of project quality, budget, and scope.
+ Organizing and executing a plan to deliver project scope requirements within the structural discipline, among a small team.
+ Supporting marketing efforts in pursuit of additional projects.
Additional Responsibilities May Include:
+ Develop project design criteria, design calculations, construction details, quantities and cost estimates
+ Responsible for cost control on projects and quality control within bridge discipline
+ Resolve problems, interpret engineering specifications, investigate design and field engineering difficulties and coordinate schedules
+ Manage single and multi-discipline structural engineering projects and develop cost-effective design solutions
+ Provide technical guidance and mentoring of project team members, including other engineers and technical support staff (CADD techs)
+ Lead a small team of engineers in the execution of project design and production on both small and large projects
+ Prepare and check design drawings and/or specifications
+ Review and check engineering work completed by others
+ Oversee planning, design and construction phases of projects
+ Serve as technical liaison with client on project effort
+ Market to clients in pursuit of additional projects
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
+ Master’s degree in Structural Engineering
+ 8-10 years of design experience on NHDOT, VTrans, and/or MaineDOT bridge projects.
+ Registered Professional Engineer in New Hampshire (or ability to obtain)
+ Experience with bridge design software such as CSI Bridge, CONSPAN, RC-Pier, and, BrR
+ Experience using Microsoft Office, MathCAD, Microstation, OpenRoads, and OpenBridge
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ NBIS Inspection experience
What You’ll Need
+ Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence the to the schedule and budget on projects.
+ Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
+ Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.
+ Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.
+ Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.
+ Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience
+ Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience
+ PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
+ Ensures accountability by holding oneself and others accountable to meet commitments.

+ Provides technical oversight and guidance to project team members.

+ Coordinates work planning and design effectively across multiple technical disciplines.
+ Prepares high quality deliverables that are on time, and within budget and scope.
