Job Description

This position is available to Northeastern University students who are currently enrolled and eligible for Co-op. Willingness to relocate to Maine vicinity for the January 2022 term is preferred.



The User Experience (UX) Designer will participate in the design of IT systems and custom software delivered to internal and external users. They will conduct UX design activities under the direction of the UX Design Team Lead and Customer Experience Product Manager.


The intern may perform user research, interaction design, visual design, and other UX design tasks to support the creation of digital experiences. They will participate in the collaborative design of digital customer experiences in a product-led organization. He or she will participate in the creation of design artifacts, such as user journeys maps, user personas, high-fidelity mockups and prototypes, and elements of design systems. The UX Designer will work in a dual-agile model, collaborating with developers to validate designs and support development efforts.

User Research

Help in the preparation of, and conduct, various types of user research, including direct interviews of internal users, external customers, and various stakeholders.

Perform user testing, surveys, etc. (using tools like Maze)


Experience Design

At the direction of the UX Design Lead, create visualizations, wireframes, and mockups, and prototype various web, mobile, and software user experiences.

Learn and create visual designs through use of layouts, colors, and illustrations using modern design tools and techniques.

Apply skills and gain experience in designing digital experiences that are responsive and adaptive, while gaining knowledge of emerging technologies and UI frameworks.


Communication and Collaboration

Participate in collaborative design activities to understand what users need, explore opportunity areas, and evaluate possible solutions.

Communicate designs for developers to implement



Working on college degree in the field of experience design, interactive design, or digital/software design

Familiarity with tools and techniques to drive collaborative design practices, communications, prototyping, and visual representations of user experience.

Understanding of design thinking concepts.

Effective written, oral, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
