Bowdoin College is located in Brunswick Maine with a student population of almost 2000. We make everything from scratch and are consistently rated in the top 10 for college dining! We have our own butcher shop, bakeshop, and organic garden that all supply food to our 2 dining halls and 3 retail locations.This position supports daily food production goals for our retail operations and includes daily food preparation, service and sanitation duties. Under supervision of the Head Chef and guidance of First Cook, this position is responsible for assembly and cooking of recipes for daily menus while adhering to standardized recipes. This position may also support preparation of items for our Catering Department. May be assigned to culinary departments including cold foods, bake shop and stewarding in both dining halls. Education/Skills Requirements
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Culinary Degree with accompanying experience or 3 years progressive cooking experience required. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team oriented environment is required.Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
A minimum of three years experience in kitchen production required. Demonstrated understanding of basic cooking techniques and their application in quick-service and/or institutional settings. A valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet the eligibility requirements of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Use Policy. Serve Safe Certification.Standard Work Days and Hours
Primarily daytime shifts but may include occasional evening shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays and during weather emergencies. Required to work during major college events and weekends.About Bowdoin
