This position is a non-benefit eligible position that works variable hours as needed. Under supervision of the Head Chef and Assistant Chef, prepare daily menu items to recipe specifications. Bowdoin has taken important safety measures during COVID -19. Staff are tested for COVID -19 twice a week, barriers have been put in place where necessary and Dining is currently take-out service only. All CDC protocols are followed. Education/Skills Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Culinary Degree with accompanying experience or 3 years progressive cooking experience required.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

Must be able to wear mask for the entire shift. Will be required to sign the Bowdoin College COVID -19 Agreement that states 2x/weekly, Bowdoin administered COVID testing is mandatory. A valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet the eligibility requirements of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Use Policy. Serve Safe Certification. Other Experience Requirements: Three years experience in kitchen production required. Demonstrated understanding of basic cooking techniques and their application in catering and/or institutional settings.

Standard Work Days and Hours

Varying shifts including weekends, holidays and during weather emergencies. Required to work during major college events and weekends. Added hourly pay differentials for second shift (10%) and third shift (15%) apply.
