Brief Job Description: This position is critical to the running of all of the Northern State Parks and Historic Sites in Maine. This position directs all park and historic site activities and programs of the Bureau of Parks & Land within one of two geographic regions in the State. Areas administered by this position include: campgrounds, day use parks, historic sites, portions of the Appalachian Trail, state-owned parks that are municipally administered by lease, numerous boat launching areas, and other lands hosting a wide variety of passive and active recreational activities. Duties include developing plans for staff, equipment, and operating needs for new and/or expanded parks and programs to provide for changes in public demands on programs and operations. In addition, the position contributes to the development of Bureau policies and assures consistent application of State and departmental policies region wide. Other duties include hiring, directing and evaluate all senior administrative and supervisory staff in the region to provide necessary guidance and direction, and to ensure established goals, objectives, and staffing needs are met.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An eight (8) year combination of education and/or experience in public/business administration or related substitute to including three (3) years’ experience in program management of park facilities or related fields to include one (1) year supervisory experience over a number of subordinates is required.
