SENIOR HUMAN SERVICES COUNSELOR-OXFORD STREET SHELTER (PROJECT)

Health and Human Services Department – Social Services Division - Oxford Street Shelter - Emergency Solutions Grant Program – Full-Time (37.5 hrs.), Project Position - The schedule for this position is Monday to Friday from 11:00AM-7:30PM - This is a supervisory level position working as part of the Oxford Street Shelter management team with a focus on rapid re-housing and homeless prevention activities.  Responsibilities include assisting homeless men and women staying at the Oxford Street Shelter by increasing community supports and overall stabilization via a rapid re-housing model leading to permanent, safe and supportive housing within 90 days of program enrollment.  This position will also be responsible for rigorous data entry and documentation requirements as required by HUD.  Additional duties include location of and placement in permanent housing, client outreach and relationship building, development of housing resources, daily housing orientation, increased representative payee participation and referrals and follow up to ensure increased community supports and long-term housing stability.  Other job duties include: crisis intervention, referral for detox and other substance use services, referral for mental health services, referral for healthcare services, as well as fully participating as part of the Oxford Street Shelter Housing Team.  May supervise support services staff and shelter attendant staff as needed.  Requirements:  Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously required.  Experience with housing placement in a rapid re-housing model preferred.  Supervisory experience within programs serving homeless or at-risk populations as well as experience with mental illness, substance use and other barriers to self-sufficiency also preferred. B.A. degree in Social Services or equivalent combination of combined education, experience, and training desired.  Valid Maine Class C driver’s license (please provide license number) and personal vehicle available for work also desired.  Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.  Pay range starting at $26.03/hour.
