Job Description


Position Summary:

The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support to all areas of the Human Resources team.

Essential Functions:

+ Provides administrative support to the Human Resources Department.

+ Serves as back-up to the Manager of Insurance, Payroll Specialist and Benefit Specialist.

+ Processes weekly payrolls when Payroll Specialist is out.

+ Assists with payroll weekly data entry as needed.

+ Coordinates company anniversary awards program.

+ Prepares and mails benefit enrollment information for new hires and termination information to terminated employees.

+ Prepares offer letters, welcome packets and benefit packets for acquisitions.

+ Provides administrative support for scholarship program, tuition reimbursement and volunteer programs (Time to Share, Sharing is Caring).

+ Processes monthly retiree billing and leave of absence billing.

+ Prepares and mail leave of absence and FMLA packets.

+ Assists with benefit and payroll related inquiries.

+ Distributes mid-year and annual performance reviews via HRIS.

+ Archives personnel file documents using a computerized digital imaging system.

+ Files first report of injury and provides wage and fringe statements to worker’s compensation insurance company.

+ Reviews and updates Employee Handbook and HR Policies and Procedures as needed.

+ Prepares and distributes Safety Management Meeting agenda.

+ Prepares and mails New Hampshire Second Injury Fund paperwork to new hires and files accordingly upon receiving returned forms.

+ Assists with various insurance requests as needed.

Other Tasks:

Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Participates in special projects as needed.


Minimum 2 years general office experience working with MS Office applications and office equipment.

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Certification or Licensing:

None required.


There is frequent telephone communication with DRC staff across the footprint.

Decisions Made:

The Human Resources Assistant will make routine decisions regarding administrative support functions.

Safety Considerations:

Safety considerations relate to proper ergonomics in an office setting including appropriate workstation and computer terminal setup. Safe and appropriate use of electronic equipment is expected.

Equipment Used:

Equipment used in this position includes a calculator, networked personal computer, printers, photocopiers, telephone and FAX machine.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office setting with controlled temperature and lighting. Infrequent travel is required.

Physical Requirements Analysis:

This position requires frequent sitting, standing and walking; visual acuity; frequent use of fingers to write, type and handle paperwork; frequent communication involving listening and speaking.

Weight or Force Moved:

There is occasional need to lift or move objects weighing more than 5 pounds such as computer reports and file boxes. Assistance is available for lifting heavier objects.
