IT Network Engineer - Full-time - Maine

Job Description

This position will be responsible for installing and maintaining computer networks and systems. The Network Engineer's role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. Offers escalated technical support to team members and other departments within IT to analyze and resolve end-user hardware and software computer problems.


Job Responsibilities:

Work with IT and Business team members, decision-makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.

Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, UPSs, and other networking hardware.

Deploy servers, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems, and all host security systems.

Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.

Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.

Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Extensive experience with core systems applications, including telephone systems and VOIP technologies, MS Exchange, Citrix, etc.

Logical problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn

Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices.

Working knowledge of network operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Citrix, VMWare, etc.

Strong customer service orientation.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks with a sense of urgency.

Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.

Competence with testing applications for performance and tuning

Experience with telephony systems and VOIP technologies


This IT Network Engineer role reports to the Network Operations Manager. This position interacts with all levels of management, consultants, clients, and contractors during the normal performance of duties.


Education, Experience, and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related fieldis preferred and 7-10 years equivalent work experience

Certifications in Microsoft, Citrix, Cisco, and/or Hardware platforms a plus:

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE)

Certified Cisco Network Associate (CCNA)

Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA)

Working technical knowledge of current software protocols, and internet standards

Extensive support experience with Microsoft Operating Systems, TCP/IP networks, Cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS
