Status: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am – 4:30pm
Grade: 12 ($17.26 - $23.18)
SUMMARY: The Customer Service Specialist will work primarily for the Assessing Department and will support the Finance Department performing related functions to achieve the highest level of customer service for taxpayers, patrons and other interested parties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Up to three (3) years of progressively fast-paced responsibilities; clerical experience with cash handling, assessing, tax and/or utility billing experience helpful. Municipal Treasury and Assessing experience and/or certifications preferred.
WORK ACTIVITIES: Responds to questions concerning property records, acts as a representative of the Assessing Department providing property information such as square footage, year built, number of beds/baths and other pertinent information; maintains accurate records and updates information on property cards and computerized assessing database including sales, ownership, owner tax exemptions, permits, construction and demolition. Assists with preparing yearly tax roll and checks for various exemptions. Collects, enters and processes tax payments; processes all required forms for certified mailing of 30-days tax lien notice and foreclosure notices. Processes, deposits and records collected daily and monthly parking from all city parking garages. Issues landfill recycling passes upon request, answer incoming calls with questions regarding taxes, registration, utility bills and other related issues. Performs other duties as required.
