The Division of Natural Sciences of the University of Maine at Farmington invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning September 1, 2022.

Teaching duties include General Chemistry I and II (with labs) in alternating years, serving biology, pre-professional, environmental science, geology, and secondary education science majors. The successful candidate will also offer advanced laboratory biology courses serving pre-professional and biomedical students, complementing UMF’s role in the Maine IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE). The remainder of the teaching load will be devoted to biology or chemistry courses for nonscientists, to honors courses, and possibly to advanced chemistry courses depending on the candidate’s background. We expect the faculty member to develop a research program consistent with the resources available at UMF and to involve undergraduate students in this research. The faculty member will also engage in service activities such as academic advising and serving on university committees.

This position reports to the chair of the division.


Required Qualifications: Candidate must have a Ph.D. in a relevant science discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Biological Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Toxicology).

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in both classroom and online teaching is preferred.
