Full time (37.5 hours/week) -

The Portland Fire Department is seeking a highly talented individual who will be able to coordinate and administer the Fire Prevention and Community Outreach needs for the City of Portland. The areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: permit application and plan review, fire inspections, code enforcement, public education, PIO / media relations, fire investigations, and fire/life safety programs.  The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this position establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and/or directors of other City agencies, business and community groups, State and Federal officials, representatives of the media and the public.  The principal duties of this position are performed in a general office environment. Work is carried out with considerable independence, initiative, and judgment under the direction of the Chief of the Department.  Requirements of Work:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Fire Sciences, Public Administration, Fire Protection, Fire Protection Engineering, Business Administration, Management, Administration, or directly related field.  Extensive experience in the Fire services to include supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.   Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check. 

Salary range:   $67,288 to $82,746/year, plus excellent fringe benefits.
