The Line Worker Instructor will be responsible for teaching and facilitating Cianbro's Line Worker Apprenticeship Program and other related classes. In addition to leading classroom and hands-on instruction, this team member will be responsible to conduct periodic check-ins with apprentices and engage in job site visits to enhance on-the-job learning opportunities. Also, if interested, there may be periodic opportunities for the Line Worker Instructor to assist our Power & Energy team on Storm Duty assignments.
This position will report to the Power & Energy Development Manager.
Support the workforce development needs of Cianbro's Power & Energy Market as an integral member of the Cianbro Institute team
Teach & facilitate Transmission & Distribution Apprenticeship sessions
Supervise/work with apprentices in hands-on activities at our simulated work environment
Lead classroom sessions become familiar with the curriculum, support student learning needs in the classroom and between class sessions
Modify/upgrade structures & equipment in the simulated work environment as needed
Acquire certification to instruct/ assess team members for 3rd party certification
Conduct evaluations of newly hired and newly developed journey-level line-workers
Act as a mentor and perform periodic job site check-ins to enhance the on-the-job learning experience for apprentices.
Support regional management and HR with tracking and monitoring the progression and on-the-job learning of team members
A strong background in utility power distribution including distribution line construction, maintenance, storm restoration, as well as a proven track record developing and mentoring less experienced line-workers.
Some experience with and an understanding of transmission construction.
The ability to operate equipment including bucket trucks, digger trucks, and wire pulling equipment.
The ability to climb wooden poles.
Must have an absolute commitment to understanding, adhering to, and promoting safe work practices.
Basic computer literacy including accessing the information on the internet/company files as well as the ability to communicate professionally via e-mail.
