Spurwink is looking for an Activities Coordinator for our Adult Program, offering recreational activities for the residents to participate in that support their interests and abilities. This is accomplished through accessing community resources, researching opportunities, involving the individuals being supported, and coordinating with the direct support staff, clinical staff, and management. Other essential functions include providing direct support to the residents during activities, traveling and transporting residents to activities, communicating instructions, organizing events, creating and posting a calendar of events/activities, reading hab plans, documenting activity reports, ordering supplies, and managing money and expenses related to activities. This position also includes a $1500 sign-on bonus, $750 paid upon 3 months of full-time employment, $750 paid after 6 months of employment. Robust Benefits Package:

+ Support the mission, vision and values of Spurwink through compassionate communication.
+ Organize major activities/events at least once a week.
+ Communicate with staff weekly regarding recreational and social events.
+ Access community resources to broaden choices for residents by scanning newspapers, internet searches, direct contact and mailing lists order and maintain adequate quantity of supplies necessary to support activities.
+ Involve individuals and guardians in planning activities as much as possible.
+ Make reservations and visit activity sites in advance to assure accessibility and availability.
+ Participate in outings and act as role model for staff and other participants.QUALIFICATIONS: 30 credit hours toward Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, social work, speech-language, pathology, audiology, dietetics, education to human services) and 40 h ours in-service training OR Associates degree in a related field OR 4 years full-time experience with 160 hours in-service training, at least 40 of which were in the last year OR Medication Administration Certification. At least 4 years of experience working in the field (i.e., social services or health care). At least 2 years of professional experience performing job duties similar to the activities coordinator position OR professional certification in activities position or recreational therapist. CRMA certified, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employment, and CNA certification (for the ICF Group Home only). Valid driver’s license and registered and safe vehicle with current inspection sticker and eligible to be covered by Spurwink’s insurance.
