Bowdoin College is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst/ Accountant to join our team in Brunswick, Maine. This would be an excellent position for an individual with a B.S. Accounting degree and 3 to 5 years of experience looking to launch a rewarding career. The Financial Analyst/Accountant is responsible for proper recording of journal entries and account reconciliations for timely and accurate reporting of monthly financial statements. This position is also responsible for reviewing restricted fund activity and assists members of financial accounting staff with month-end close processes, reporting needs, and preparation of audit schedules. The Financial Analyst/Accountant has back up responsibility for gift-revenue related tasks. An opportunity exists for the right person to play a significant role in the launch of Bowdoin’s 2023 software conversion.

Education/Skills Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or demonstrated equivalent experience is required.

Applicants must possess strong analytical, customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is a must (advanced level Excel skills required), and familiarity with accounting software strongly preferred.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting environment is preferred. The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal history background check and credit check.

Standard Work Days and Hours

As scheduled with supervisor between hours of 8:00 am and 5:30 pm. Full time (1.0
