Smarthinking, a division of Pearson Higher Education Services, seeks a Quality Manager to assist Writing Department leadership oversee and maintain the tutoring quality of its online writing tutoring services and writing tutor team. The Writing Department Quality Manager’s responsibilities include:

+ Monitor and assess quality of Smarthinking’s online writing tutor team and writing lead tutor team

+ Oversee quality control for Smarthinking’s writing service subjects and writing tutor trainees

+ Be alert to and provide guidance to underperforming tutors, escalating only as-needed cases to department leadership

+ Communicate regularly with tutors and lead tutors to advise regarding on-shift tutoring questions/problems/protocols

+ Review and respond to user and faculty inquiries and complaints regarding tutoring session/writing review quality

+ Draft, update, and review client-facing and student-facing materials as needed (i.e., writing handbook lessons, tutor training manual documentation, flyers, web page copy, etc.)

+ Assist with proposal response writing and documentation as needed as Requests for Proposals arise.

+ Assist with managing Smarthinking social media (i.e., responding to Smarthinking user questions via Smarthinking Facebook page)

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $60,000. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.

+ Master’s degree (minimum) in an applicable field, i.e., Rhetoric/Composition, English, Education, ESL or Language Acquisition.

+ 5-10 years of experience administering online writing tutor training/professional development and evaluating online writing tutors.

+ 5-10 years of online writing tutoring experience and detailed, extensive knowledge of best practices for online writing instruction and online tutoring pedagogy.

+ Exceptional, flawless writing skills.

+ Ability to efficiently assess tutoring session/writing review quality and effectively distill that assessment for various audiences (Writing Department leadership, faculty, user/students).

+ Extensive experience writing original copy, proofreading, and handling extensive writing/revision projects.
