Job Description

The OHC Receptionist is responsible for telephone and in person interaction with patients, students, staff and faculty at the OHC. The OHC Receptionist greets patients, interviews new patients over the telephone, records patient’s demographics in the clinic information system to create an electronic patient record. Registers and checks-in new and existing patients and directs them to the appropriate locations within the Oral Health Center. Answers telephone calls and provides information and accurate direction to people calling the Oral Health Center’s main telephone number. Collects payments at time of appointment, enters MaineCare insurance information and verifies MaineCare coverage and demonstrates a strong customer focus while representing the values of the UNE CDM.

The OHC Receptionist supports the mission of the Oral Health Center by:
o Timely and accurate collection of clinic fees
o Electronic patient scheduling
o Review and update patient demographics in Electronic Health Records
o Patient reception/registration/check-in
o Entering and verifying MaineCare coverage for patients

o Accurately collects and records payments from patients at time of appointment
o Follows UNE policies and procedures regarding cash, checks and credit card payments and reconciles end of day receipts with Associate Director of Clinic Operations
o Provides support to the providers in the OHC Dental Clinics by accurately establishing electronic patient records and scheduling patient appointments.
o Reviews and updates patients’ demographic records
o Provides information for the Dental Clinics by answering and directing telephone calls while maintaining customer focus
o Follows HIPAA patient privacy policies
o Maintains office equipment and office supplies.
o Supports the educational mission of the clinical faculty, including role modeling professionalism in the clinic business operations
o Other duties and assignment as directed.
