Location: Camp Keyes – Augusta
This is maintenance and personal services work in caring for the grounds at the Maine Army National Guard’s Camp Keyes facility. Work includes overseeing and working with a crew in preserving and improving the appearance of the grounds. Work is performed under general supervision.
Typical duties will include:
+ Seeding, watering, mowing, and raking of lawns.
+ Digging flower beds and planting, weeding, and tending flowers and shrubs.
+ Snow removal activities in order to ensure accessibility and safety of personnel.
+ Repair and maintain tools and equipment in order to ensure equipment is safe and maximize availability.
+ Remove rubbish, leaves and other refuse in order to ensure appearance meets established standards.
+ Monitors and repairs benches, paths, and other articles on the grounds in order to ensure user safety.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
+ Knowledge of landscaping and grounds keeping techniques.
+ Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair.
+ Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather.
+ Ability to supervise crew.
+ Three (3) years of responsible experience in grounds keeping work involving some supervisory responsibility
+ Must possess a valid Maine driver’s license.
+ Must pass a National Guard security background check prior to obtaining permanent status.
Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating the following:
+ Experience in snow removal and the use of plowing / sanding trucks and heavy equipment.
+ Availability and willingness to work overtime and/or flex time
+ Valid Commercial Driver’s License

The bi-weekly dollar values of some State-paid benefits include:
