At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a QA Test Engineer supporting NCI’s ISB-CGC Cancer Gateway in the Cloud, you will work on testing websites and underlying data repositories so that high quality, useful data can be found by cancer researchers worldwide and analyzed effectively. You will assess the website quality through manual and automated testing, including enhancing the testing processes by finding as well as reporting bugs and issues.
In this role, you should have a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. You should also be competent in executing test cases and passionate about quality. A typical day will include:
+ Following the enhancements that are being put in place and creating test cases to perform Quality Assessment on the features being developed.
+ Running end-to-end, regression, edge cases and integration testing on the features exposed to the end-users.
+ Running testing on processes used to load the data access via command line analytic tools using languages, such as Python, R or similar.
+ Collaborating with QA lead engineer to develop effective strategies and test plans.
+ Executing test cases (manual or automated) and analyzing results, as well as enhancing automated methods to perform these test cases using frameworks, such as Selenium, Cypress or similar.
+ Identifying specific nuances in the datasets and tools that highlight use cases to illuminate possible issues with the functions of the system.
+ Reporting issues to team-members and confirming they have been resolved after patching
+ Training end users on how to use the system and its applications.
+ Using your molecular biological, biochemical, and/or bioinformatic knowledge of the data and how it is queried to suggest enhancements to the systems for better performance.
What You Will Need:
+ University degree in biology, computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related field and two years of related experience
+ Experience in writing and executing test cases (manual or automated) and analyzing results
+ Minimum of one year of testing non-academic software in a software development life cycle
+ Minimum of one year experience in developing test cases and performing tests for an enterprise system from an end-user perspective.
+ Knowledge (at least one year of advanced university course work) of how cells function to understand the basis of disease, such as cancer
+ Experience enhancing automated testing methods using frameworks, such as Selenium, Cypress or similar ecosystems
+ Experience with bioinformatics datasets and tools
+ Experience in Linux/Unix work environment.
+ Experience with the cloud
+ Familiarity in two of the four: SQL, bash scripting, R and Python programming
