Job Description

The City of South Portland is currently seeking full time (40 hours) City Bus Drivers to join our South Portland Transportation Department. This position includes bus driving along established routes, transporting buses and dispatching duties. There are opportunities for varying assignments within the position on a quarterly basis as we undergo a selection process and adjust schedules and routes.  Hand washing bus interiors, detailing, general cleaning and other light maintenance duties will also be required. Applicants must have excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide accurate and informed information, and be highly motivated for customer service excellence.

Maine Class A or B Commercial Drivers’ License with a Passenger (P) endorsement upon hire is highly preferred. Will consider candidates with the ability to obtain this license and endorsement within the first 6 months after hire, and we can assist with acquiring the necessary licensing through our training program. Must pass a post-offer physical exam, drug screening and background checks. Must participate in DOT random drug testing protocol throughout employment. During training will work weekdays. Flexibility in work schedule is required with a probability of evenings, Saturday, and Sunday hours once trained.
